Built on the training ground.

Pete McDonnell is an Academy Head Coach at Philadelphia Union with a coaching path that runs from the Football Association of Ireland to NCAA Division I to MLS Next. He has worked at every level of youth soccer in America — grassroots, club, high school, NCAA, and MLS academy.

He holds the UEFA A License from the Football Association of Ireland, the US Soccer Academy Director License, and the Elite Formation Coaching License — a 2024 program for top-level MLS coaches run jointly with the French Football Federation. The work is built around one belief: development is a system, not a moment, and players reveal potential when the environment demands it.
